Traveling isn’t just about moving. It’s about discovering, sharing, enjoying… It’s exercising a right that many people still can’t exercise on equal terms. For those living with reduced mobility, every getaway involves exhaustive planning, often without guarantees. But accessible tourism is not only necessary: it’s a driver of inclusion and an opportunity to transform cities and services so that everyone benefits. Older people, those with strollers, children… everyone wins when the environment is more accessible.
According to UN data, more than 15% of the world’s population has some form of disability. In Spain, it’s estimated that 8% live with reduced mobility. And this group, far from representing a “niche,” is a growing force seeking adapted, safe, and welcoming destinations. Tourism that doesn’t discriminate, that inspires.
In addition to the social impact, there’s also an economic opportunity. Recent studies show that people with disabilities travel more frequently off-season, tend to repeat accessible destinations, and have a higher average expenditure.
🌍 Projects like Tur4All, a directory of adapted destinations, and references like Viajeros en Silla, who share tips and reviews from experience, are changing the landscape. Park4Dis joins this network, the platform that makes it easy to find reserved parking spaces for PRM in more than 300 municipalities.
Accessible tourism is no longer an option: it’s an ethical requirement and an opportunity for everyone.
💡 A more functional world is possible when we drive every decision taking into account all segments of society.
